Power Drink

My Pre-Workout Power Drink is probably not the most delicious combination of flavors you've ever consumed; however, it is both energizing and alkalizing and definitely improves my performance in the gym. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

1 – 2 tbsp. Apple Cider Vinegar

¼ tsp. Baking Soda

8 ounces Water

1/8 tsp. Cinnamon

1 tbsp. liquid Turmeric or 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder

2 drops DoTerra Black Pepper oil or a dash of black pepper

1 tsp. MCT oil

Pinch of Cayenne Pepper

1 tbsp. Raw Local Honey

1 tbsp. Power Greens Powder

2 drops J Lugol Iodine

1 tbsp. liquid Magnesium (not pictured)

1 drop each Wild Orange, Grapefruit and Lemon Essential Oil

Directions: Add ¼ tsp of baking soda to 2 tbsp. ACV. When done fizzing, add 8 ounces of water and the rest of the ingredients. Shake well.

Why I drink this:

Apple Cider Vinegar - This aromatic darling of the wellness world is an energizing prebiotic, digestive aid and alkalizing agent that helps balance pH, enhances digestion, encourages beneficial bacteria, improves insulin sensitivity and supports healthy cholesterol, to name a few…

Baking Soda – neutralizes the acidity of the ACV, making its sharp taste less terrible.

Cinnamon – This tasty antioxidant is also anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic and antimicrobial. It has also been shown to help lower Ldl cholesterol and triglycerides.

Turmeric – This golden jewel is positively great at being anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-ulcerative and anti-bacterial. It also helps to enhance metabolism and protect against heart disease.

Black Pepper – Enhances the bioavailability of the *curcumin in turmeric.

MCT oil - works synergistically with the black pepper and turmeric to make the *curcumin even more bioavailable.

*Curcumin is a microscopic little pharmacy in turmeric that helps stop pain and inflammation, prevent fat growth and accumulation and helps to regulate blood sugar.

Cayenne Pepper - This sweat producing pepper cleans the stomach and fights sore throat, fever and colds. It also enhances metabolism and fat burning and can be used to treat some migraines.

Raw Local Honey - This delicious and healthy energy source can boost immunity and provide allergy protection. It is also the best tasting part of the drink!

Power Greens Powder – because it’s important to “eat your greens”. And I hate ruining a delicious smoothie by adding my greens to it.

Iodine – helps to metabolize excess fat, is important in physical development and is necessary to produce thyroid hormone, which is responsible for our basal metabolic rate. (Contraindicated with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.)

Magnesium – essential for energy, vital to enzyme activity, helps prevent muscle weakness and aids in maintaining proper blood pH.

Essential Oils (orange, lemon, grapefruit) – make the drink smell amazing. Plus, I get all their miraculous benefits!

Other things I drink during the day to achieve consuming one gallon of Water:

Room temperature water - 20 oz. first thing in the morning and 15 minutes before every meal = 80 oz.

1 cup of Organic Black Coffee = 10 oz.

Cranberry/Lemon water - 10 oz. 2 x daily between meals = 20 oz.

or Infused Water (Cucumber and Ginger is a favorite)

La Croix - over ice with fresh squeezed citrus juice if I'm in the mood for something bubbly. But, ALWAYS on an empty stomach and never with food.

Hot Tea

Kombucha - 10 oz. daily

Organic Red Wine - with dinner
